Vineyard Dunes Ranch – Lompoc Valley, CA
Vineyard Dunes Ranch aims to introduce a unique and compelling concept to Santa Barbara County wine country- a recreational destination that combines organically managed golf courses interwoven with organically managed grape vineyards. This innovative, groundbreaking concept will also include lodging and fine dining options, an on-site winery, and as well as wine tasting events created and developed by the wine industry partner we are seeking.
Vineyard Dunes Ranch (VDR) will become the site of America’s second organically managed golf complex, following The Larkin Group’s "Vineyard Golf Club" on Martha’s Vineyard off the coast of Massachusetts–the first 18-hole organic golf course in the country. The golf courses will build upon the 25 years of experience in golf sustainability employed by the Larkin Group that demonstrates low water and input applications. In entirely redoing one 18-hole golf course (the La Purisima Golf Course) and building as many as 36 to 45 new golf holes, we will use less water overall than is currently being consumed by the one existing golf course. Stated differently, no new water – a key factor in gaining acceptance for our project where water is at a premium.
On a combined parcel of roughly 1,000 acres, we plan to build two new 18-hole golf courses, a regulation 9-hole course, two short Par 3 courses, a world-class practice facility, a 100-room lodge, 20 casitas, a spa, fine-dining and casual restaurants, and a winery. We are proposing 40 market-rate house lots over 600 acres that will be sited for maximum privacy.
By highlighting the sustainability, understated luxury, and unparalleled beauty of Vineyard Dunes Ranch we aim to attract golf enthusiasts, wine lovers, horseback riders, hikers, space launch viewers, and naturalists, thereby positioning our brand as the ultimate destination for a memorable, eco-conscious getaway. Our facility will also include internal walking and horseback riding trails as well as direct access to the adjacent La Purisima Mission for equestrian and hiking activities. We are currently in discussions with Santa Barbara County regarding the project.
